Rory McIlroy, 37 years old, hailing from Northern Ireland, secured his second straight Masters title on the 12th, closing a 24-year gap. U.S. President Donald Trump remarked, “Congratulations on another outstanding victory,” and noted, “With each passing year, Rory is becoming more of a legend.” Trump, considered one of the most devoted golf fans, was reported to have spent time with Governor Ron DeSantis and his wife at his golf club, Trump National Doral Resort, in Florida, before watching the Masters.
Following the confirmation of McIlroy’s win, Trump shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, “He put on an amazing display under extreme pressure” and noted, “It’s something most people can’t even picture.” He also called McIlroy, who secured another Masters victory after last year’s Grand Slam success, a “LEGEND” and showed excitement for “his next game at the Doral Resort in two weeks.” The PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship is set to occur at the Blue Monster course of the Doral Resort from the 29th of this month until the 3rd of the following month.
Trump remarked, “The abilities of today’s professional golfers have all become truly outstanding,” and further noted, “Everyone should be proud of the performance displayed at this weekend’s Masters.” Bryson DeChambeau, a golfer aligned with the MAGA movement who is close to Trump and frequently plays with him, was excluded from this tournament. Trump, continuing from last year, released a presidential special statement before the Masters, which golfers refer to as the “dream tournament,” portraying it as an event that represents the American spirit’s quest for a golden era.
