Italian footballer Jorginho has formally retracted his comments about pop star Chappell Roan after a hotel incident in Brazil went viral.
A 34-year-old had earlier criticized the singer on social media following an incident where a security guard reportedly made his 11-year-old stepdaughter cry.
The dispute started when Jorginho’s stepdaughter Ada Law, who isJude LawHis daughter recognized Roan during breakfast at a high-end hotel in Sao Paulo and was allegedly approached in an ‘extremely aggressive’ way.
Nevertheless, following heavy media attention and a direct statement from Roan’s representatives, the athlete has stated that the security personnel in question was not genuinely affiliated with the singer.
The issue has now been resolved, and Jorginho posted a detailed message on Instagram on Monday to confirm that Roan was not involved in the incident.
“Chappell Roan issued a public statement, contacted Catherine privately, and our teams also had direct conversations,” said Jorginho.

It became evident that she was unaware of what occurred during breakfast and hadn’t instructed anyone to speak with them. She showed empathy and compassion for what had happened to our child.
Although we still are unaware of what caused him [the security guard] to go up to them, and we do not think an 11-year-old could reasonably be considered a security risk, it is now evident he was not working for Chappell.
It turned out, in the end, to be a misinterpretation, and I’m pleased to correct the record. It’s crucial for me that this is explained properly and precisely. I apologize for the effect this has had on Chappell Roan, Catherine, Ada, and our family.
I will forever defend my family. However, I am also capable of understanding when situations were not as they initially appeared.
Roan was spotted at Coachellathis Saturday, signifying her first public appearance since the security guard controversy last month inBrazil.
Her arrival followed the bodyguard in question, Pascal Duvier, remained quiet about the incident that had made young Ava Law cry.
Four days following the incident, he shared on Instagram:I accept complete responsibility for the events on March 21st. I was at the hotel representing someone else, and I was not a member of the personal security team ofChappell Roan.
“The steps I took were not done in the interest of Chappell Roan, her private security team, her management, or any other people,” Duvier explained.

I made a decision using the information we received from the hotel, events I had seen in the previous days, and the increased security risk at our location.
Duvier concluded his statement, saying, “My only contact with the mother was peaceful and driven by good intentions, and the result of the meeting is disappointing.”
Duvier once served under Kim Kardashian but was allegedly let go following her robbery in Paris in 2016.
Roan has stated she is unaware of any communication between her employees and Ada, who was residing with her mother.Catherine Hardingand father-in-law, Brazilian soccer playerJorginhoFrello, in the same hotel as theGrammy winner.
“She did not instruct her personal security or any members of her team to engage with them,” said Roan’s representative.
Ada and her mother had been intending to go to Roan’s show at the Lollapalooza music festival.
