The family and friends of a 20-year-old student from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, are grieving the loss of their cherished loved one, who is said to have suffered an electrical incident at his home.
The deceased, known as Buer Barlertey, is believed to have touched a part of a wall that became electrified under unknown conditions.

Initial data suggests that the electric current could have come from an adjacent property’s fence, which was said to have remained active during the event.
Reports indicate that the fence, installed as asecurity measure,could have carried electricity to a nearby building, accidentally making a section of the wall electric.
The event is thought to have taken place in the late afternoon, resulting in the premature passing of the young student.
Buer Barlertey, who is referred to by relatives as the sole child of Lena Tamakloe, an education official stationed in Madina, has left a mourning family grappling with the unexpected tragedy.
Family members have called his death extremely heartbreaking, mentioning that his passing has left a massive gap that will be hard to overcome.
The events that occurred have raised worries among locals, especially about the security of electric fences in homes.
Concerns are being voiced regarding installation protocols, upkeep procedures, and the sufficiency of safety precautions to avoid such heartbreaking incidents.
To date, officials have not offered a detailed description of the event or verified if a complete inquiry has been initiated.

Law student passes away due to medical crisis
In a different report, a Ghana School of Law student diedduring academic events on campus following a health-related incident.
As per a statement issued by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), the unfortunate event took place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, while a lecture was underway.
The president of the SRC, Nana Opoku-Ware, stated in a report viewed on Citinewsroom that the student was supported by peers and taken to Ridge Hospital after a sudden health crisis occurred.
Although his colleagues and medical staff tried their best, the student could not be saved.
“The SRC has verified that the incident took place during academic activities… our late colleague was supported by peers and taken to Ridge Hospital, where he sadly passed despite the efforts made,” stated the Ghana Law School SRC.
The Ghana Law SchoolSRC has therefore extended its sympathies to the grieving family, friends, and the broader student community, referring to the event as a heartbreaking loss.
