April 17, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese judicial officials began legal action against Rehab Mubarak, a member of the Emergency Lawyers’ executive body, for accusations of disseminating “false” information that endangers national security.
Officials charge Mubarak with spreading misleading information aimed at damaging the military’s image and reducing its influence.
A court order issued by legal authorities indicated that the action is intended to address “false reports” that have recently been spread. Legal charges have been brought against the dissemination of rumors and information considered damaging to national interests.
Legal documents stated that Mubarak was removed from the Sudanese Bar Association due to alleged breaches of professional ethical guidelines. The organization asserted that she exploited her legal position to promote objectives designed to stir public sentiment by spreading false information.
Mubarak stated to Sudan Tribune that the arrest warrant was issued due to her efforts in monitoring and recording human rights abuses throughout the conflict. She mentioned that some entities are determined to prevent these details from being revealed.
Mubarak mentioned that advocates in this area have been subjected to targeting for almost three years, which aligns with the beginning of the conflict and the initiation of record-keeping activities by both the military and the Rapid Support Forces.
The group of Emergency Lawyers has been involved during the conflict, recording breaches carried out by both sides fighting in Sudan.
