Singer and radio host Kim Jong-kook expressed his views on taking part in his first international travel-based variety show since getting married.
On the 21st, an online event was organized to introduce the new SBS Plus variety show *‘The Upper Man’s Travel Method in Kyushu’*. Choo Sung-hoon, Kim Jong-kook, Daesung, and Producer Kim Jin-ho were present.
On that day, when asked, “This is your first international travel program since your marriage. Has your perspective changed before and after getting married?” Kim Jong-kook quipped, “You all know the answer. All married men are alike, but I went into filming for the sake of my family.”
He stated, “It was really challenging for my family’s sake, but I kept going to work,” while making exaggerated facial expressions and gestures as though trying to hold back tears, which caused the audience to laugh. He went on to say, “We also hope to work comfortably in Korea. We want to head straight home after work.” However, he added, “What can I do? I worked hard and went there.”
Kim Jong-kook stated, “My wife didn’t offer any unique words of support but simply advised me to be cautious and return in good health. That’s the most crucial aspect when traveling.” He added, “We aren’t particularly fond of going overseas for broadcasts, but we had to go to bring happiness to many people.”
When Daesung remarked, “Why don’t you go domestic next time?” Kim Jong-kook retorted, “I’m gonna!” Producer Kim Jin-ho commented, “In fact, the show was set up last autumn. While arranging the schedule, I often reached out to Kim Jong-kook’s manager. The manager mentioned, ‘Jong-guk senior asks every day when it’s happening,’” which made everyone laugh.
Kim Jong-kook gained attention after hosting a private wedding with an ordinary woman in September of the previous year.
*‘The Upper Man’s Travel Method’* is an authentic travel documentary showcasing extreme P (spontaneous) males who rely on their instincts, highlighting South Korea’s renowned upper men Choo Sung-hoon and Kim Jong-kook, along with the youngest “middle man” Daesung. It presents a buddy-style travelogue that combines the three men’s senseless rivalry, constant pretentiousness, and childish behavior comparable to elementary school students. The show will air at 8:40 p.m. that day.
