The American athlete, 29, has gained widespread recognition throughout the country and around the world because of her seven gold medals at the Olympics.

Nevertheless, the intense attention can be overwhelming for Biles, as she has acknowledged that her fans occasionally cause her stress.

The athlete, who went to Madrid over the weekend for the 2026 Laureus World Sports Awards, expressed privacy issues on Instagram.

“Okay, I really love how passionate and dedicated you all are, BUT I have to be honest. It really makes me anxious when you stand outside the hotel all day. Can we please, please, please show your love from a distance and respect privacy xx,” she wrote on Sunday.

“I’d really like to take pictures when I’m out and about,” she added, while looking at a photo of a cocktail at a restaurant.

Biles’s social media request was followed by a series of photos showing the gymnastics icon moving around Spain, including behind-the-scenes moments of her getting dressed up for the Laureus Awards.

The star of Team USA shone brightly as she walked onto the carpet at Cibeles Palace in the Spanish capital.

Biles captivated in an otherworldly dress by Vietnamese designer, Cong Tri. She radiated elegance in a golden, taffeta, one-shoulder mini-dress adorned with feathered trim and a bold train.

The Laureus World Sports Awards is a yearly ceremony that recognizes athletes and groups, as well as acknowledges significant accomplishments in sports.

The American gymnast has won the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year award four times. She secured her fourth honor after her victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Nevertheless, this year, Biles participated in the event as an ambassador instead of a recipient.

Biles’s position as an ambassador for Laureus was initially revealed in February.

Following her appointment as an ambassador, Biles stated, “Laureus has been a significant part of my journey for many years, and I am extremely proud to have received the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year award four times, including at last year’s ceremony in Madrid, which was a memorable evening for me.”
