A legal professional was taken aback on Monday while talking about a newcivil rights investigation the Trump DOJ is undertaking.

In anew episode, Shant Karnikian, a lawyer and co-host of the “Civil Unrest” podcast, talked about the Trump DOJ’s civil rights investigation intoCassidy Hutchinson, a former member of the Trump administration who provided testimony against the president during the investigation into the January 6th insurrection. On April 7, the New York Times reported that the Department of Justice is looking into whether Hutchinson provided false information to Congress.

“This is the most severe form of political retaliation,” Karnikian stated.

Karnikian pointed out that the investigation seemed to center on a few specific statements. One of them involved Hutchinson asserting that President Donald Trump attempted to seize the steering wheel of “The Beast,” the president’s vehicle, on January 6 in an effort to return to the Capitol. She also stated that Trump took no action to safeguard former Vice President Mike Pence during the riot.

Karnikian also mentioned that Hutchinson testified she was guided by Trump’s ethics attorneys before her statement. Hutchinson stated she felt compelled to inform the court that she “couldn’t remember” specific information.

“That’s truly vile,” Karnikian remarked.
