Otto Addo stands by Ati-Zigi following defeat to Austria
Meanwhile, after the Ghana Black Stars suffered a 5-1 loss to Austria in a friendly match on Friday, March 26, attention was directed towards Ati-Zigi. However, former head coach Otto Addo swiftly supported him, stating that responsibility for the defeat should be distributed among the entire team. “Zigi, the five goals weren’t his fault, particularly the first two; there was nothing he could do, and ultimately he was unfortunate,” he remarked.
Even for him, as a goalkeeper, he didn’t deserve to let in five goals, but such is football. We need to understand that it’s not just about the goalkeeper or one player or another; we all need to learn and discover better ways to address the issues we faced this evening against Austria.
Zigi’s choices have already generated discussion, as Benjamin Asare was part of two-thirds of Ghana’s matches in the World Cup qualifiers.
