Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stated on Tuesday that the Pakistan Muslim League-N has an extraordinary track record of progress and community service in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He was speaking at a gathering of the PML-N Parliamentary Board for Gilgit-Baltistan, which included Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

Nawaz Sharif, who also serves as the head of the PML-N, voiced approval at the attendance of the party’s full leadership, describing it as an indication of solidarity and dedication to the area.

He claimed that PML-N has a better understanding of Gilgit-Baltistan’s requirements than any other party, emphasizing significant infrastructure initiatives carried out during his time in office.

Speaking about a road initiative valued at more than sixty billion rupees, he mentioned that it greatly cut down travel time, from twenty-four hours to almost ten hours, enhancing connections and aiding local populations.

Nawaz Sharif conveyed his belief that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has the same aspirations for the progress of Gilgit-Baltistan and will keep advancing current efforts. Nevertheless, he called on local leaders to take an active part, emphasizing that they should not depend entirely on federal financial support but also raise their own resources and guarantee the efficient use of funds for the benefit of the public.

Emphasizing the tourism opportunities in regions such as Skardu and Hunza, he mentioned that travelers from around the globe are keen to discover Gilgit-Baltistan, and local officials should take an active role in advancing and promoting this industry. He reiterated his deep connection to Gilgit-Baltistan and promised ongoing assistance for its development and success.

Nawaz Sharif emphasized that PML-N has consistently focused on tangible achievements rather than political speeches. He mentioned that the party’s efforts in development, administration, and national security are broadly acknowledged. He further stated that Pakistan’s global reputation is regaining strength under the present leadership. The president of PML-N also commended the efforts of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in enhancing Pakistan’s image internationally.
