Accra, April 27, GNA – An 18-year-old wanted individual, charged with involvement in multiple thefts in Korleman within the Ga West Municipality, where an elderly woman is said to have been attacked, has been sent back to the Amasaman Circuit Court.

Haruna Tahiru Mohammed, a tile layer referred to as “Star Boy,” is being charged with conspiracy, illegal entry, theft, and violence.

He denied all the charges and is scheduled to appear in court again on May 7, 2026.

The individual accused of being his accomplice, Liassidji Kofi Godwin, has already been found guilty and is now serving a 13-year term in prison.

Police Chief Inspector Frederick Awuah-Ansah informed the court, which was chaired by Ms Susanna Nyakotey, that the complainant, Mr Geoffrey Akpabli, a businessperson, resides in Koleman close to Amasaman. Mohammed also lived in the same neighborhood.

On November 10, 2024, the prosecution stated that the complainant and his wife went to church, leaving their 68-year-old grandmother, Elizabeth Ntem, at home.

Around 1000 hours, the individuals accused are said to have entered the residence with the aim of committing theft.

It was reported that they kept the elderly woman under control, placed a piece of cloth over her mobile phone, put it in her mouth, and told her to stay quiet.

The court was informed that the accused individuals subsequently searched through the complainant’s room and are alleged to have taken a Lenovo laptop worth GH¢4,000, an Acer tablet phone valued at GH¢2,500, a pump-action gun estimated at GH¢12,000, a sum of GH¢5,600 in cash, and several quantities of baby food, the value of which has not yet been assessed.

The prosecution stated that the two individuals then entered the room of a neighbor, Christian Agbetor, and are accused of stealing GH¢10,300 in cash before running away.

Local residents, after learning about the event, chased the offenders and detained Godwin, while Mohammed is said to have fled.

The elderly woman later recognized Godwin as one of the assailants.

Several of the stolen items, such as the Lenovo laptop and Acer tablet, were found at Godwin’s resting area in Koleman and given to the police in Amasaman.

Additional stolen items were eventually found in a bag, with the exception of the cash and the pump-action rifle.

While conducting inquiries, Godwin refuted the charges but is said to have identified Mohammed as his partner in crime.

Godwin was later charged and given a 13-year prison term involving forced labor.

The police stated that Mohammed was seen at Koleman on April 13, 2026, and was apprehended by the complainant along with local residents before being transferred to the authorities.

Inquiries were still in progress, the prosecutor stated.
