A citizen from Tanzania, who works as a waste collector in Kisauni, has been taken into custody in connection with the disturbing killing of 11-year-old Glorious Kaiza Maore.

Authorities verified that a citizen from Tanzania, named Anthony Juma, also referred to as Kipara, was taken into custody on April 12, 2026, after several weeks of inquiry regarding the child’s vanishing and later demise.

How did Glorious Kaiza Maore come to be discovered?

As per the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Glorious was reported missing on Sunday, March 15, following her failure to come home from Sunday school practice.

Her vanishing set off a search in the area as family members and locals attempted to locate her.

The search took a dark turn several days later when children playing in the Manyani area found a bag with a human hand sticking out of it.

“Police were notified, and after a check, the lifeless body of the young girl was discovered inside, tied with a rope as a deliberate effort to hide the crime,” DCI said.

A postmortem carried out at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital confirmed that the child had been violated prior to being suffocated.

“A postmortem examination carried out at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital confirmed the worst: Glorious had been violated prior to being strangled, a heartbreaking breach of innocence,” DCI reported.

How did investigators locate the escaping Kisauni suspect?

DCI detectives began their inquiries right after the body was recognized, with initial clues suggesting the suspect, who had already left his residence when the police arrived.

“The suspect had escaped, leaving an empty house where partially burned clothing and bedding were found, indicating an unsuccessful effort to eliminate key evidence,” the investigators stated.

Police initiated a search for the suspect, following him until his capture almost a month following the unfortunate event.

They referred to the arrest as a significant development in the case, which had captured interest in Kisauni and nearby regions.

The accused was subsequently brought before the Shanzu Law Courts through a special request, and the court allowed investigators 21 days to hold him while the inquiry proceeds.

“The individual under suspicion, a Tanzanian citizen who works locally as a garbage collector without official identification, is still in custody while the investigation proceeds. The case will be brought up for discussion on May 4th, 2026. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations appreciates the public’s assistance and guarantees Kenyans that justice for the young victim is a primary concern,” DCI stated.
