President Lee Jae Myung, during an official trip to Chile, presented a lacquerware piece called *Irworobongdo* and a set of organic wine glasses to Chilean President José Antonio Kast following their meeting on July 30 (local time). *Irworobongdo* is a painting that was placed behind the king’s throne during the Joseon Dynasty, created using the mother-of-pearl technique. Cheong Wa Dae stated, “This symbolizes the hope that President Kast, who assumed office in March, will guide the nation with wise leadership and bring prosperity to Chile.” The organic wine glasses were chosen taking into account Chile’s reputation as a top wine-producing country.

To Mrs. Adriásola, the spouse of President Kast, a white porcelain Western tableware set and a high-end K-beauty collection were given. The tableware set includes a blue crystal design that evokes the Milky Way found in Chile’s Atacama Desert. The beauty collection was selected based on the strong popularity of K-beauty products in Chile.

President Kast gave gifts to President Lee, including 12 bottles of Chilean wine, a jewelry box made from lapis lazuli, an alpaca blanket, and a coffee drip set. Chilean wine, considered a representative of the so-called “New World Wine,” has been extensively distributed within the country since the Korea-Chile FTA. Alpacas live in the Andes Mountains throughout South America, including Chile, and their wool is utilized as a premium textile material.
