When asked about the EU’s plans for discussions aimed at ending the four-year conflict, the Russian president stated that former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder would be his preferred mediator.

Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested on Saturday that the conflict in Ukraine might soon come to an end.

Speaking with journalists following the markingRussia’s Victory Day parade, Putin stated: “I believe that the situation is approaching its conclusion.”

When asked who his preferred EU negotiator would be in potential future peace talks, the Russian leader mentioned former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
