Pope Leo has shared his preferred additions for a hotdog.

The pope, 70, is recognized for his fondness of an American classic, with loyal Catholics even sending his favorite pizza fromChicago on dry ice.

However, he recently informed followers outside the Vatican that he prefers ‘mustard and ketchup’ on his hot dog.

A devotee remarked to the first American pope, who was once called Cardinal Robert Prevost, “As someone from Chicago, you’ve eaten more hot dogs than any pope before you.”

The leader then humorously responded, “only with mustard,” and promptly corrected himself to say, “mustard and ketchup.”

His remarks have evidently been noticed by his fans, with one person throwing a stuffed hotdog toy at Pope Leo, who seems to attempt to catch it.

Last summer, a 22-year-old from Cincinnati handed over a pizza from Aurelio’s to the Chicago native as they passed through Saint Peter’s Square in Rome.

Madeline Daley had learned about his supposed affection for the classics and mentioned to NBC that Pope Leo’s face lit up, and he smiled ‘from ear to ear’.

This year, the pope unexpectedly gained popularity on social media and was recognized as a ‘fashion icon’ following his appearance in Nike shoes while wearing his religious attire.

He was seen leaving in a pair of white sneakers with the company’s famous ‘swoosh’ emblem in a documentary preview detailing his life.

Several people were taken aback by his choice of informal footwear paired with his religious attire, and they didn’t hesitate to make light-hearted comments about it.

“The most amazing Pope ever,” one user exclaimed on X.
