A man is fleeing after being accused of sexually assaulting an older woman inside her house, having entered through the rear entrance.
An 80-year-old woman was at her residence in Woodroffe, near Darwin, when an unidentified man entered the premises around 8:50 pm on Wednesday.
The authorities have not yet provided a description of the suspect.
A representative from NT Police stated that detectives are urging the public to provide any relevant information or CCTV recordings that may help with the inquiry.
“Approximately 8:50 pm, law enforcement was alerted to a case of sexual assault that occurred at a home on Woodroffe Avenue in Palmerston,” the representative stated.
A male suspect, whose identity is not known, is said to have entered the house via the back door, then sexually attacked the woman and escaped from the location.
During a press briefing on Friday morning, NT Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby expressed her ‘total disgust’ over the incident.
“We require this individual to be captured and handled because such conduct is unacceptable according to our government,” she stated.
