A man passed away following an attempt at a popular ‘detox’ method involving a drug derived from the skin of a toxic Amazonian tree frog, only a few days before his birthday.
Kristian Trend, 40, is thought to be the first British national who lost their life following the use of Kambo—a substance derived from an amphibian that has been traditionally utilized by native Amazonian communities.
It is utilized in ‘purging’ andfertilityceremonies, however, it is toxic and can cause tachycardia, low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, and occasionally bowel movements.
In more severe instances, Kambo may result in death, with the substance being linked to ‘sudden death’.
Mr. Trend is said to have collapsed last month at a ‘cleansing’ ritual in Leicester, where he used Kambo.
Law enforcement arrived at a residence in Clarendon Park, Leicester, on April 11 after being alerted that an individual was feeling unwell.
However, the wellness instructor and cancer survivor passed away unexpectedly.
He spent four months in the hospital before, as he was fighting Burkitt lymphoma, a form of cancer known for its fast-growing tumors that typically impact the jaw, abdomen, or central nervous system.

Angie, the mother of Mr. Trend, has recently demanded that the use of Kambo be banned after her son’s unfortunate passing.
She said to The Telegraph, “He intended to purify himself, that’s what he told me. He was very religious. He consumed many vitamins. But I’m not sure what occurred.”
We still haven’t received the test results. I don’t have any information, and I’m not sure I even want to find out what occurred. It won’t change anything.
She mentioned that the “worst part” was that he had been in the hospital battling cancer and “managed to get through it.”
The heartbroken mother stated, “It’s just terrible that this occurred. It was his birthday the following week, and I had purchased all these gifts.”
Mr. Trend’s family has established a tribute page after his passing. In a message on his Facebook account, a younger sibling seems to have stated: ‘For those wishing to make a donation in honor of Kristian, you can click the link below.’
We aim to collect as much funds as possible for this incredible charity that held immense significance for him and our family.
Ascend high, dear brother. We will always love you, Mum, Kayla, and Bligh.

A person wrote on the tribute page: “To dear Angie and Kayla – my love and support is with you all.”
I’m deeply sorry for the heartbreaking loss of your beloved Kristian. Always loved and never lost from our hearts.
One person remarked: “Thanks for the friendship, memories, and pleasant moments, Kristian. You will be deeply missed.”
A third person stated: “I am truly sorry for your loss. There’s no guide on how to get ready for the challenging moments in life.”
Meanwhile, a fourth person stated: ‘Removed from his family and friends at an extremely young age. Always in our minds, from your family in Oz.’
And a fifth person stated: “A remarkable individual who passed away prematurely and will forever reside in our hearts. Always the elder cousin, big Kristian to my children.”
A 41-year-old man was taken into custody on charges of poisoning after Mr. Trend’s death and has now been granted bail.
A representative from Leicestershire Police stated, “An inquiry into the details of the event is ongoing.”
Kambo, also referred to as Sapo, is not an approved pharmaceutical in the UK, and individuals who provide it are not overseen by the Healthcare Regulatory Agency.
A representative from the government stated, “any material that presents a threat to public health or safety will remain under examination.”
A medical examiner has been informed of Mr. Trend’s passing, and an official inquiry is anticipated.
The reason for his death remains unknown – however, toxicology tests are being conducted to determine the cause of his passing.
