The state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has given the go-ahead for the federal salary assessment targeting medical professionals and health staff in Ondo State.

This information was revealed on Wednesday during the yearly gathering and farewell event for retired permanent secretaries and tutors-general in Akure, the state’s capital.

The governor further revealed that additional medical personnel are set to be hired shortly for the state’s healthcare centers.

Recognizing the impact and significance of retired permanent secretaries in state governance, Governor Aiyedatiwa stated that his administration will keep benefiting from the expertise and historical knowledge of retired permanent secretaries and senior government officials.

He characterized them as an essential asset for enhancing governance and the delivery of public services.

The leader highlighted that experienced senior officials who have retired are still essential resources, and their extensive knowledge and real-world grasp of governance should keep being utilized for the state’s progress.

He disclosed that a number of former permanent secretaries and high-ranking civil servants had already taken on important political positions because their knowledge was pertinent.

The leader, therefore, encouraged retirees to see retirement not as the conclusion of their public involvement, but as a shift towards a new stage of giving back, where they could guide younger officials and support excellence in the civil service.

He reasserted his government’s dedication to enhancing the public sector and boosting efficiency via favorable benefits programs.

The Service Chief, Mr. Bayo Philip, praised the governor for focusing on employees’ well-being, timely payment of retirees’ benefits, and increasing the number of civil service staff.

He stated that state civil servants have kept receiving advantages from the Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa-driven proactive and employee-oriented leadership.

Philip revealed that the governor has recently authorized the immediate disbursement of terminal benefits for retired permanent secretaries to facilitate their access to these entitlements.

He revealed that approximately 5,000 new positions have been filled to enhance the civil service, and housing has been authorized to assist around 150 retired graduate headmasters impacted by a policy delay that began in 2009, with many of them passing away before any action was taken.

Therefore, Philip encouraged former permanent secretaries to uphold their dignity and keep making valuable contributions to the advancement of the public sector.

Previously, Segun Odusanya, the Chairman of the Ondo State Permanent Secretaries Forum, characterized the group as an organized entity created to support the well-being, ongoing professional development, and administrative conduct of current and former permanent secretaries.

Odusanya mentioned that the forum has consistently promoted the effectiveness of public service by organizing training sessions and strengthening administrative culture to ensure successful implementation of policies.

He praised the governor for appointing 34 permanent secretaries and supplying official vehicles to 22 officers who had been previously appointed, calling the action a benefit to organizational efficiency.

Odusanya mentioned that the payment of gratuities was prolonged until 2019 for state retirees and 2014 for local government pensioners, which he referred to as a major action.

In their messages of goodwill, Oladele Akinmoye, the Orungberuwa of the Ode-Erinje Kingdom, and Mojisola Grace Ajayi, President of the Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, thanked the state government for its ongoing assistance to retirees.
