Former White Houseethics chief Norm Eisen was extremely angry on CNN regarding reports that the Trump administration ispursuing a criminal investigation into former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll,who alleged that President Donald Trump sexually assaulted her in a Manhattan department store during the 1990s.

A jury determined that Trump was responsible for sexual abuse and defamation after he had left his first term in office; he has consistently denied the allegations and relentlessly pursued appeals to overturn the ruling and the awarded damages.

“So, Norm, to start with, what’s your response to the DOJ initiating a criminal investigation into E. Jean Carroll?” asked Anderson Cooper.

“Anderson, this is utterly shocking,” said Eisen.

Every American should be shocked by this trend of Donald Trump using the most intimidating power available to our president, the ability to investigate and potentially prosecute people he sees as his opponents,” said Eisen. “First, it was Tish James. That case was dismissed.Jim Comey. That case was dismissed. He is targeting Comey once more. That case is destined to suffer the same outcome.

This is nonsense,” he remarked. “And it is concerning as it represents a typical indicator of authoritarian behavior. Leaders with dictatorial tendencies would be embarrassed by Donald Trump’s misuse of his legal authority. Furthermore, it is not in line with American values.
