The US carries out its second ‘defensive’ attack this week during delicate peace talks.

The U.S. military conducted fresh attacks during the night in Iran, focusing on a military location and intercepting four Iranian suicide drones that presented a danger near the Strait of Hormuz, according to a U.S. official on Wednesday.

An official, who requested to remain unnamed, stated that the military target hit was an Iranian ground control facility located in Bandar Abbas, Iran, which was about to deploy a fifth drone.

US military operations occurred amid talks aimed at concluding a conflict that has lasted three months, resulting in thousands of deaths and causing a significant rise in global energy prices since the fighting started on February 28 with attacks by the US and Israel.

“The measures taken were deliberate, entirely defensive, and aimed at preserving the truce,” the official stated.

Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian state media report suggesting that Iran and Oman would jointly oversee shipping in the Strait of Hormuz as part of a peace agreement. Trump stated that the waterway would continue to be accessible.

The United States last conducted what it described as defensive attacks on Iran on Monday, which Iran claimed breached the nations’ tenuous truce.

The United States focused on vessels trying to plant mines and missile launch areas that the US military’s Central Command claimed presented a risk to American troops.
