A seasoned Republican strategist likened the PresidentDonald Trump’sdiscussing a “anti-weaponization” fund in an interview on CNN, referencing a famous scene from the film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”

Trump’s foundation was created as part of a deal involving the TrumpDepartment of Justiceand the IRS regarding a case involving Trump’s disclosed tax documents. The approximately $1.8 billion fund was established to compensate individuals who claim they were unjustly prosecuted by the federal government, with several of Trump’s associates stating their intention to submit claims for compensation.

The fund has faced considerable opposition fromRepublicansBoth Democrats and Republicans. On Monday, Axios reported that the Trump administration intends to discontinue the fund. The announcement followed a group of federal judges criticizing the settlement and requesting a federal judge in the Southern District of Florida to review the settlement again.

David Urban, who previously served as chief of staff for former Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), told CNN’s Kasie Hunt on Monday that the fund resembles the scene from Monty Python where they are removing dead bodies from a town, and someone suddenly says, “But I’m not dead yet.”

“It might not be entirely gone, but it’s very much dead,” Urban said.

His remarks were made as Trump met with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Monday, with Johnson reportedly urging the president to abandon his efforts to create the fund.
