One of Donald Trumpold tweets criticizing a 2013 nuclear agreement withIranhas come back to light following the two nations’ agreement on peace this week.
In November 2013, Iran, theUSand five additional global powers entered into a pact where Iran limited its nuclear activities in return for the lifting of economic sanctions.
Trump addressed the agreement on Twitter and stated, ‘What a terrible deal we struck with Iran. We gain nothing (except ridicule for our foolishness). They receive everything, including postponement and significant funds!’
Similarities between the 2013 agreement, regarded as a significant victory for the secondBarack Obamamanagement, and the latest peace agreement led by Trump are difficult to overlook.
The 2013 agreement temporarily slowed Iran’s nuclear program and allowed the release of $4 billion in blocked funds for the nation.
Iran agreed at that time to permit thorough nuclear inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Although Iran eventually started enriching uranium and appeared to violate the 2013 agreement, Trump has highlighted his new deal, which closely resembles the terms of Obama’s.
Trump unveiled the latest peace deal, which comprisesA $300 billion plan for Iran’s ‘reconstruction’, a lifting of ‘all types of sanctions’, removal of theStrait of Hormuzblockade, the deal for increased nuclear monitoring by the IAEA and releasing Iranian funds.
has outlined each aspect of the agreement below.

- The ultimate agreement will receive approval through a legally binding UN Security Council resolution.
The fighting started on February 28 when Trump declared significant military actions against Iran, leading to coordinated US-Israeli attacks, which were then followed by a tenuous truce and a US naval embargo.
