Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra has maintained its position as the top public university in Morocco for the eighth straight year in the 2026 edition of the renowned Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

Out of 1,646 universities from 116 countries and regions evaluated this year, the institution is ranked within the 401-600 range globally, confirming its status as Morocco’s top public university and showcasing its dedication to sustainable development, as per the ranking. The findings were revealed on Wednesday at the 2026 Global Sustainable Development Congress, which took place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from June 22 to 25.

In a statement, the university mentioned that it has enhanced its reputation both within the country and globally, achieving significant progress in various Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) areas, such as Partnerships for the Goals, Affordable and Clean Energy, Quality Education, Zero Hunger, Clean Water and Sanitation, and Decent Work and Economic Growth, along with other categories.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings remains the sole worldwide ranking system that assesses universities according to their efforts in supporting the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The rankings evaluate universities based on their performance in teaching, research, knowledge transfer, governance, and social impact, the statement noted.
