Appearing on MS NOW as the Supreme Court issued a decision that permits Donald Trump toimmediately deport Immigrants from Haiti and Syria who have received temporary protected status (TPS) left former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance deeply upset.
Writing for the 6-3 majority, conservative Justice Samuel Alito stated that lower courtscannot stopthe federal government’s decision regarding TPS status, creating an opportunity for a large-scale removal of immigrants that the president and White House advisor Stephen Miller favor.

According to the New York Times, the decision isAffects as many as 350,000 Haitiansand 6,100 Syrians, and “…it is probable that this will have consequences for TPS recipients from roughly a dozen additional nations.”
Talking to host Stephanie Ruhle, Vance was direct and straightforward.

I mean, I haven’t read the opinion. I’ve made it through the holding,” she admitted, before expressing her frustration, “This is thecatastrophic outcome that we feared.”
The Court has stated that the administration’s choice to terminate temporary protected status is not subject to review,” she said. “Look, this will be a highly disputed decision. This shows that the Supreme Court is determined to concentrate power in the President’s hands; part of this broaderunitary executive theorythat this White House has advocated.
