Meteorologists have cautioned that ‘scattered tornadoes’ inKansasThe city might create chaos during the Tunisia vs Netherlands World Cup match on Thursday evening.

The Dutch squad steps onto the field at Arrowhead Stadium aiming to secure their position at the top of Group F against their African rivals, who have suffered two consecutive defeats.

However, the weather prediction could take precedence over the game, as per specialists at AccuWeather.

They cautioned on Thursday that intense storms are approaching, which could lead to ‘destructive winds, hail, and heavy rainfall, as well as isolated tornadoes in areas of the plains, including Kansas City.’

The game begins at 6pm local time, coinciding with the expected arrival of thunderstorms in the region.

AccuWeather meteorologist Adam Douty stated: ‘The highest danger of intense thunderstorms seems to move just south of Kansas City on Thursday afternoon and night.

With that in mind, it seems there will be regions experiencing rain and thunderstorms passing through Kansas City on Thursday evening, which may affect the game. The field could become wet, and lightning might cause interruptions.

Delays might last a long time since rain and storms may persist in the region for several hours.

Unfavorable weather has already created problems at the World Cup, as France’s second group match against Iraq in Philadelphia was postponed for more than two hours because of storms and heavy rainfall.

Before the tournament, extreme heat became the main concern, leading FIFA to implement their widely disliked ‘hydration breaks’ during the middle of each half of the match.

And AccuWeather thinks this will play a bigger role during the tournament’s knockout stages, starting on Sunday with Canada facing South Africa in Los Angeles.

They claim their meteorologists are “closely observing a phenomenon of intense heat known as a ‘Heat Dome’ forming over the central and eastern parts of the United States.”

It might indicate that along the eastern coastline and as far as Kansas City, temperatures may increase to around 95 degrees during the games.

A stadium in New York/New Jersey will host a last-32 match on Tuesday, June 30, while Germany will compete in Boston on Monday, June 29.

Kansas City will host a round of 32 match on Friday, July 3.
