When asked if Trump is treating the issue with proper seriousness, Ocasio-Cortez stated that the president is exacerbating the situation instead of working to resolve it.

“They are getting into favorable agreements one after another,” she said.

The comments link the issue of affordability directly to the administration’s economic performance, a domain where Democrats are increasingly viewing Republicans as susceptible.
