June 26, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan’s army commander and head of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, stated on Friday that he will not engage in peace talks with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unless they lay down their arms and disband their forces.

He mentioned that the army’s slow military approach was working, pointing to the removal of the RSF from areas in Al-Jazira, White Nile, and Khartoum states, while vowing to regain authority over the Darfur and Kordofan regions.

Burhan criticized individuals who maintain a neutral stance during the civil conflict, alleging that they are forsaking justice as the RSF attacks civilians and essential facilities, including power and water systems, in El Obeid.
