LondonBus fares will remain unchanged at least until November, with an increase expected soon.
Londoners dealing with the rising costscost of livingwill be pleased to learn that bus fares are not increasing, at least for the time being.
Although tube ticket prices have increased each year, bus rides have remained at £1.75 since March 2023.
Now the London mayor Sadiq Khanhas declared that the bus and tram ticket freeze will remain in effect for an additional four months, extending until November.
How much will bus tickets cost once the freeze is lifted?
Following November 1, the cost for a single adult bus or tram journey is set to increase by 10p, reaching £1.85.
Under the freeze, the daily bus limit is £5.25, but once it concludes, the limit will increase by 30p to £5.55, whichTfLstates that it aligns with Tube price hikes.
The seven-day bus and tram ticket will increase to £26.10 from November 1.
London’s transport authority stated that if bus fares had increased according to inflation over the last ten years, a single trip would currently cost £2.35.

At present, bus travelers can take an unlimited number of trips within one hour for £1.75 using the hopper fare structure.
During the summerHolidays and celebrations, travel on buses and trams on Saturdays and Sundays will cost just £1.75 for the whole day under a hopper fare promotion from July 25 to the end of August.

The mayor stated: ‘I am happy to prolong the suspension of bus and tram charges for an additional four months, and I will keep striving to ensure TfL services remain as cost-effective as possible, since I understand that the rising cost of living is still affecting many residents of London significantly.’

London TravelWatch, the passenger advocacy group, welcomed the four-month extension and promises to enhance bus services.
A representative stated, “However, the significant rise in bus fares scheduled for November—should it occur—will be difficult for passengers with limited incomes who rely on this mode of transportation, especially considering the slowest bus speeds ever recorded across the system or, in certain instances, fewer services on their routes.”
London’s famous red buses, transporting approximately five million passengers daily, are facing criticism because of declining speeds.
According to The Standard, citing data from the Confederation of Passenger Transport, London buses typically move at an average speed of 7mph, which is just a bit faster than a jogger’s leisurely pace.
