Sri Lanka, July 6 — Lt. Gen. (Retd) Muhammad Ali, Pakistan’s Defence Secretary, visited Defence Deputy Minister Major Gen. (Retd) Aruna Jayasekara at his office in Colombo on Friday (3).
Lieutenant General (Retired) Muhammad Ali arrived in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (1) to take part in the Sixth Pakistan-Sri Lanka Armed Forces Defence Dialogue.
The Deputy Minister received the visiting Pakistani Defence Secretary, and the two officials engaged in talks regarding various bilateral issues of mutual significance. The conversation primarily centered on the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Armed Forces Defence Dialogue, expanding bilateral defense cooperation, reinforcing military-to-military interactions, and encouraging collaboration in areas of common strategic interest.
The conversations also covered possible cooperation in Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) and handling emergencies. They highlighted the significance of disaster reduction using a broad strategy that includes prevention, readiness, and reaction. Both sides committed to exchanging top methods and knowledge by utilizing current cooperative frameworks like online coordination sessions, sharing weather updates, and active involvement in regional emergency management drills.
Lt. Gen. (Retd) Muhammad Ali thanked the Sri Lankan Government for their warm welcome and emphasized Pakistan’s steadfast dedication to enhancing the enduring defense ties between the two nations, a bond founded on mutual comprehension, equality, trust, and respect.
The Defence Advisor of the Pakistan High Commission, Colonel Muhammad Farooq, was also in attendance.
