Senate Republican leaders have issued dire new alerts to their fellow members: themidtermsare looking set to become a bloodbathmore than what had been previously anticipated.

A wave against current leaders is spreading across the country during its 250th anniversary, hitting Republicans at their weakest point. Trump’s popularity has dropped significantly, and Republican leadership is now privately admitting how serious the situation has become, according to The Hill.

The chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Tim Scott (R-SC), cautioned Senate Republicans in confidential discussions about “the poor polling numbers for the party at this time and how the president is losing support across all demographics,” as reported by a high-ranking Republican official who spoke with Alexander Bolton of The Hill.

The situation deteriorated during a recent Senate Republican lunch, as stated in the report.

Conference Chair Tom Cotton (R-AR) shared survey results demonstratingindependents fleeing the GOP in “substantial figures” and shifting towards Democrats. The data was so clear that participants exited the meeting “obviously disturbed.”

As stated by well-known Republican pollster Whit Ayres, “It is evident that the party in control usually loses House seats during midterm elections, but the extent of these losses is strongly linked to the president’s popularity. If the president’s approval rating exceeds 50 percent, the typical loss of House seats for their party is 14. However, if the approval rating is under 50 percent, the average loss of House seats for their party rises to 32.”

“But very few people are currently forecasting that the Democrats will fail to win seats in the House,” Ayres added.

As per the report, a newly released Fox News survey of 1,002 registered voters carried out in mid-June revealed that only 23 percent of respondents support Trump’s approach to gasoline prices. Only 31 percent endorse his management of the economy.

A Democratic strategist named Tad Devine stated to The Hill that he believes a significant electoral shift is occurring. “It could be a major change election where the Republicans might lose the House of Representatives and possibly the Senate as well. I believe the Democrats will make progress not only in those federal contests but also in governor races and legislative elections.”
