The 2026 Wimbledon women’s singles championship, one of the most esteemed tennis events globally, will feature Czech players and doubles partners from the 2024 Paris Olympics, Karolina Muchova (ranked 9th) and Linda Noskova (ranked 12th), as they compete for their initial Grand Slam title. This is the first instance since the Williams sisters (Serena and Venus) in 2009 that two athletes from the same nation will face each other in a Wimbledon final.

Muchova reached her first Wimbledon final following a tough 2-hour-35-minute semifinal win against top seed Coco Gauff (7th, United States) on July 10 (Korean time) at the All England Club in London. She beat Gauff 2-1 (6-2 1-6 7-6<12-10>). Muchova took control of the first set with strong shots from her 180cm height, securing a 6-2 victory, but struggled in the second set, losing 1-6. She then won the crucial set after an exciting tiebreak where both players traded 22 points. Muchova, who has not yet claimed a Grand Slam title, stated, “It was a wild match. I was so nervous that I don’t even know what I’m saying, but I’m really glad to have made it to the final.”

Noskova, who was born in 2004, made her debut in a Grand Slam final by defeating World No. 13 Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) with a score of 2-0 (6-4 6-4) in one hour and 19 minutes. She is now looking to win her first Grand Slam title against her fellow countrywoman Muchova. The two formed a notable partnership, securing fourth place in the women’s doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Noskova stated, “It still doesn’t feel real. Muchova is an exceptional player, and I’m excited to face her in my first Grand Slam final, but I will concentrate entirely on my performance.” Muchova remarked, “Czech tennis has a rich history, and its strength comes from its deep pool of talented players.” Muchova currently leads their head-to-head record 1-0.
