Fans throughout Paris filled bars and fan areas, singingLa MarseillaiseBefore rushing into the streets waving French flags as the final whistle secured France’s spot in the semifinals.

In Foxborough, Massachusetts, French supporters commended their team’s well-organized play, whereas Moroccan fans showed sadness but admiration for their squad’s journey. Having equaled their record achievement of reaching the semi-finals in 2022, Morocco exited the competition after another 2-0 loss to France.

Kylian Mbappé scored the opening goal in the 60th minute following a previous penalty that was saved by Morocco’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. Ousmane Dembélé extended France’s lead six minutes later, securing a confident win. Mbappé’s goal, his eighth of the competition, enabled France to reach their third straight World Cup semi-final, although the forward later had ice applied to his ankle before returning to join his teammates for the festivities.

France will now play the winner between Spain and Belgium in Tuesday’s semi-final held in the Dallas region, as focus shifts to Mbappé’s condition for the upcoming quarter-final match.
