Baltimore, Maryland – Seiya Suzuki launched his second home run in two consecutive games and batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs, yet the Chicago Cubs lost 3-2 to the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.
The Chicago White Sox, on the other hand, announced they will bring back Samurai Japan’s power hitter Munetaka Murakami on Friday following over a month on the disabled list.
Suzuki achieved his 15th home run of the season with a powerful solo blast to left field, equalizing the score at 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning at Oriole Park.
“I had a solid pitch to hit and didn’t let it go by,” Suzuki said.
He hit a game-winning RBI double to left field, giving his team a 2-1 advantage in the eighth inning, but Baltimore then came back to take the lead in the bottom half of the frame.
Suzuki’s clutch performance occurred one day following his three-run home run, which led the Cubs to a 9-7 win and ended his 0-for-19 drought at the plate for the 31-year-old outfielder.
I felt frustrated with myself,” he stated. “I was committed to directing all that energy into the game.
White Sox manager Will Venable stated on Thursday that Murakami will be part of the starting lineup for the opening game of the series against the Athletics at Rate Field.
The American League’s Rookie of the Month for May has recorded 20 home runs and 41 RBIs in 57 games this year before being placed on the injured list due to a right hamstring injury on May 30.
He’s prepared to play,” Venable stated. “We recognize the influence he has on the field and within the team room, so bringing him back will be significant for our squad.
