A 17-year-old girl lost her life when she was struck by a truck while celebrating France’s World Cup win against Morocco in the town of Aulnoye-Aymeries, northern France, according to The Sun report on Friday.

As per the report, the teenager was part of thousands of fans reveling in the streets as she climbed onto the side of a truck along with other enthusiasts.

A police representative stated that she collapsed onto the street and was struck by the same car.

She had climbed onto the side of a truck, along with others, but fell onto the street.

“The teenager was subsequently hit by the same vehicle. Efforts were made to resuscitate her, but she was confirmed dead on arrival shortly after midnight,” the spokesperson stated.

The report indicated that the truck driver was taken into custody and will be subjected to examinations for alcohol and drug consumption as authorities look into the event.

Three witnesses are said to have been hospitalized with slight injuries and signs of shock.

The Sun stated that French officials have initiated an inquiry regarding the deadly incident.

The event took place while hundreds of thousands of football fans were commemorating France’s win throughout the nation.

As per the report, it is now frequent for fans in France to jump onto moving vehicles following significant football games, even though officials have repeatedly cautioned that this behavior is hazardous.

Officials had expected unrest comparable to the clashes that occurred after Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League victory in May, when hundreds of individuals were taken into custody.

Nevertheless, the police stated that the festivities remained mostly calm, with just 10 arrests reported in Paris and fewer occurrences in other areas.

France advanced to the World Cup semi-finals with a 2-0 win against Morocco on Thursday, causing widespread festivities throughout the nation.
