On Thursday night, President Donald Trump is set to give a televised speech where he is anticipated to promote his long-refuted claims about the 2020 election. A former Trump administration official stated that these assertions are not just baseless, but that the president’s national speech may result in a negative reaction, making him appear as a “disgruntled loser.”

As stated by security expert Miles Taylor, who worked under President George W. Bush and later joined the Department of Homeland Security during Trump’s first term, he gained notoriety for revealing details about the latter administration through an anonymous article published in the New York Times titled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.” Taylor participated in a MSNOW broadcast on Thursday morning to share his views on Trump’s upcoming speech.

As per Taylor, the speech is expected to present “poor remnants” of Trump’s usual election conspiracy theories, such as thatChina got involved in the 2020 election.

Here’s the thing,” Taylor said. “They did. We already have that information. We also know that the Iranians attempted to interfere, as did the Russians. We are aware of this because the American intelligence community, five years ago, released a report stating all the foreign threat actors that tried to meddle in the 2020 election. What was truly significant is that the intelligence community confirmed none of them were able to access sensitive systems. They didn’t alter the votes. They might have tried to interfere. They could have used social media. They may have attempted to obtain voter information. However, they did not influence the result of the 2020 election.

Taylor believed that Trump and his group are “counting on us having moved on from that situation and attempting to bring back the original intelligence reports that supported those findings, possibly by selectively choosing parts of those reports and making them public, in an effort to make it seem like things were more severe than they actually were, and that Donald Trump was somehow deprived of the election.”

He continued by stating that he not only contributed to constructing the election security framework for Trump, adding, “I can assure you that the elections we safeguarded during his time in office were the most free, fair, and secure in modern American history,” but also emphasized that they did not act on the president’s request. Instead, “we did it in spite of Donald Trump. He didn’t appear to want us to defend elections from foreign interference.”

I mean that genuinely,” Taylor explained. “The president appeared very resistant to our attempts to safeguard the elections. He expressed frustration over it. He didn’t wish to receive updates on the matter. And now he’s trying to assert that someone hacked our elections and took them from him.

Taylor then claimed that thepresident’s addresslater that night — reports indicate he will advance his election falsehoods and announce the results ofGeorgia’s Democratic senators illegitimate— will have negative consequences for two reasons.

From a national security perspective,” he stated, “by releasing information that the CIA and other agencies seem to want to keep confidential, you could reveal sources and methods. You might endanger our nation by making that data public. Additionally, you are encouraging our enemies. You are demonstrating that they don’t need to hack into our voting systems to disrupt our politics. All they have to do is extend their influence within our country, and they can create instability in the political system. If you exaggerate their actions as being more significant than they actually are, Mr. President, you are essentially helping them achieve their goals.

But if you don’t mind that,” Taylor continued, “if that’s acceptable to you, then I’ll explain politically why this is harmful for you. Because if you present a case tonight that a country did something they didn’t actually do, that they stole an election from you that wasn’t stolen, even your own supporters will see you as a failure. They will think you come across as a sore loser. And in politics, no one wants to be linked with a loser. So if you’re concerned about the atmosphere within the MAGA movement, the worst thing you can do is what you’re planning to do tonight. Mr. President. I wouldn’t do it.
