Argentinian television channel TyC Sports faced criticism towards four athletes following theWorld Cup final defeat to Spain.

Argentina aimed to secure consecutive World Cup victories at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday night butexperienced a 1-0 loss against a strong Spain.

Lionel Scaloni’s team didn’t manage a single shot on goal during regular play but put up a strong defensive effort to block the European champions, Spain.

The cause of Argentina was not aided byChelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandeza red card in the 93rd minute, which left the defending championsreduced to ten players for the entire duration of extra time.

They were only 15 minutes away from a penalty shootout when Spain eventually overcame their opposition with Ferran Torres’ goal in extra time.

Spain were without a doubt the superior team on the night, with Argentina failing to generate any opportunities until they were compelled to pursue the game in the final moments.

National TV channel TyC Sportsexpressed gratitude to the team for their work during the World Cup but reluctantly pointed out four players from the final, awarding them scores of 4/10 or lower.

They mentioned midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, who had a significant influence in thesemi-final win over England, ’caused’ Argentina issues with his ‘inaccurate passes’.

“Regrettably, he was not accurate, his performance created issues, and he consistently failed to effectively hinder Spain’s offensive moves,” they wrote.

He also did not bring any surprises in attack; he was required frequently, and this time he was missing.

In the second half, he was entirely missing, similar to other matches in the World Cup. A weak performance, a dull World Cup.

Fernandez received the same evaluation following a red card which might have deprived Argentina of a real opportunity to win the World Cup.

“He failed in his role as a ‘central midfielder,’ he couldn’t locate the ball, he didn’t retrieve it, and when he did have possession, his long passes forward were ineffective,” they stated.

Without the opportunity to create smoothness in his gameplay, he attempted to move forward, but that’s when Spain made things even harder for him.

His unimpressive play didn’t get better with Paredes entering the game, and to add to the problem, a poorly executed and untimely challenge resulted in the team being down to ten players.

Enzo, considered the top player when facing England, didn’t perform well in this match.

Giuliano Simeone, the son ofAtletico MadridBoss Diego was partially responsible for Spain’s winning goal and faced a harsh critique.

“The dedication and energy shown in each match were also paired with a deficiency in skill and weak decision-making,” TyC Sports stated.

He failed to keep track of Ferran during the goal, made several incorrect passes, and allowed an unexpected tie, but then again, Messi doesn’t often get such opportunities in the box. He put in the effort and that was all.

The lowest match rating was given to Atletico Madrid defender Nahuel Molina, who entered the game as a right-back in the second half.

They stated: “Another subpar performance, possibly the worst, pointing to one of Scaloni’s major issues at this World Cup: the right flank.”

Molina was also caught off guard by another defensive mistake, resulting in Spain’s goal.

He fought against anyone who targeted that side; a game to be forgotten and a very dull World Cup for the Atlético Madrid defender.

Meanwhile, Argentina manager Scaloni maintained that he felt ‘sad’ yet ‘proud’ of his team following their failure in the World Cup final.

I feel sad, but I know we gave it our all,” he said. “There are many things I want to express, but I can’t really.

I will always be grateful to these individuals who have fought all the way. They were more skilled, to be honest. I have very warm memories of their achievements and the challenges they faced to get here.

We should not overlook all that we have accomplished up to this point. I want to convey to the nation that we gave it our all.
