July 20, Pakistan — On Sunday, Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that a modern cancer hospital is set to be built in Rawalpindi, following the design of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore, and called this move a major advancement in enhancing medical services across Punjab.

Speaking to a crowd during her visit to the Commercial Market and the renovated Model Bazaar in Raja Bazaar, Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is committed to providing people’s rights even before they are requested. She highlighted that significant development initiatives, contemporary healthcare services, educational improvements, and social welfare programs are being swiftly carried out throughout the province.

In reference to healthcare, Aurangzeb mentioned that government hospitals are undergoing improvements to enhance the level of medical care provided to citizens, and that Lahore is being developed into the “Nawaz Sharif Medical District,” with construction currently taking place on 11 advanced hospitals.

The declaration of a Rawalpindi cancer hospital was presented as part of this larger healthcare initiative, along with current institutions like the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) and the Kidney Hospital, which she attributed to previous PML-N administrations headed by Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

She also emphasized other development projects, such as the enhancement of markets in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Taxila, Gujar Khan, D.G. Khan, Vehari, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, and other cities. She mentioned that a parking facility for Raja Bazaar has been approved under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2027 to address traffic and parking issues in the region.

Tracking current infrastructure initiatives in Rawalpindi, she highlighted the Katchery Chowk underpass, the Rawalpindi Ring Road, the electric bus system, and the Suthera Punjab (cleanliness) initiative, referring to them as examples of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s development strategy.

Regarding education and youth matters, Aurangzeb stated that the Chief Minister was offering laptops, Honhaar Scholarships, and advanced educational resources to young individuals, while ensuring fundamental facilities in government schools. She mentioned that in the last two and a half years, 42,000 kilometers of roads had been constructed throughout Punjab, and the Safe City initiative was being expanded to all tehsils to create a safer atmosphere, especially for women, children, and senior citizens.

She also mentioned the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” (Own Roof, Own Home) initiative aimed at homeless families, along with specific programs for households without their own land.

Talking about larger national matters, the minister commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for enhancing Pakistan’s international reputation via economic initiatives, foreign policy strategies, and anti-terrorism efforts, and also honored the military, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and the fallen heroes.

She also praised Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi for his work to enhance the railway system, and addressed the issue of Kashmir, stating that Nawaz Sharif’s connection with the Kashmiri people was based on trust, affection, and dedication rather than just political motives. She encouraged the people of Azad Kashmir, particularly the younger generation, to back PML-N candidates in the upcoming elections, referring to Kashmir as “Pakistan’s lifeline.”
