The Seoul Metropolitan Office has implemented a program providing a 50% reduction in public parking charges for cars with expectant mothers.

On July 19, the government stated that it has issued and put into effect the updated regulation regarding the setup and administration of parking areas in Seoul, which features these provisions. This comes after the city previously passed the regulation concerning respect and assistance for pregnant women.

As per the updated regulation, cars operated or occupied by expectant mothers are eligible for a 50% reduction in parking charges at municipal parking facilities provided they show evidence of pregnancy, like the *Pregnant Women App Card*, during payment.

Vehicles carrying pregnant women are also eligible for a 50% discount on gym facility usage fees and parking fees at water reclamation facilities. Grounds have also been established for pregnant women to receive reductions in admission fees at paid facilities in Hangang Park, urban parks, and the Seoul Urban Architecture Exhibition Hall.

In situations where discount criteria overlap, for example, for families with multiple children, some facilities might only offer the higher discount rate. Hence, it is recommended to verify the exact discount policies with the respective operating organizations.

A representative from the Seoul Metropolitan Government said, “We anticipate this policy will greatly ease the challenges faced by pregnant women in terms of movement and access to cultural and sports venues,” and added, “We hope a mindset of care and respect for pregnant women becomes widespread in everyday life soon.”
