President Donald Trump authorized attacks onIranfor the ninth straight night, shortly after the militaryreported that a third soldier was recently killed in action.
The US Central Command stated on social media late Sunday that military forces started attacking Iran at 7 PM EST, following the confirmation of a soldier’s death at a base in northern Iraq.
CENTCOM pledged to “keep weakening Iranian military strengths that are utilized to target commercial ships and civilian sailors passing through the Strait of Hormuz.”
Speaking to journalists on Sunday evening, Trump expressed that he feels ‘very sorry’ about the American deaths.
“But you understand, those brave patriots were there fighting so that Iran doesn’t get a nuclear weapon,” he stated.
The commander-in-chief continued, ‘Iran has suffered tremendous damage. They’ve nearly lost everything militarily… We have control over the Strait; they don’t have control over anything.’
So we’ll find out what occurs, but we struck them very hard once more tonight, and we did so in memory of the… three outstanding patriots.
American troops have already destroyed Iranian missile bases, drones, and air defense systems through a series of airstrikes over the weekend, as the US military vowed ‘quick retaliation’ for thedeaths of two military personnel.
The American airstrikes ended at 11:30 PM on Saturday, focusing on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) units that carried out the deadly assault on U.S. facilities in Jordan on Friday.
But on Sunday, CENTCOM stated that a third service member was killed during a “controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone” in the North.Iraq during action on Saturday.
Trumpreferred to the deaths as “a very sad thing” during an interview with NewsNation’s Hannah Brandt on Sunday, but mentioned that their sacrifice was “in service to our country” while reiterating that “we will never let Iran obtain a nuclear weapon.”
Besides the two deaths, one military personnel is unaccounted for, and four others were medically transported to hospitals in Jordan following the incident. The soldiers have since been released, stated CENTCOM in a statement on Saturday.
The military has not disclosing the identities of any of the soldiersin consideration of the families, over 50,000 troops were sent throughout the Middle East.
The soldiers were characterized as “extremely alert, concentrated, dangerous, and prepared.”
However, Seyed Mohammed Marandi, an Iranian-American scholar designated as a “voice” for the Islamic government, stated that Tehran has been getting ready for a US land invasion over many years.
“The Americans are considering an invasion. I’m not claiming it will definitely occur. I’m also not stating it will take place in the coming days. However, they have preparations in place for an invasion,” said Marandi, a former advisor to Iran’s nuclear negotiation team, during an interview with political analyst Glenn Diesen.
“Whether they execute them or not, we’ll find out. However, as you mentioned, the Iranians target Bahrain and Kuwait, as those are where most American assets have been stationed for a land invasion,” Diesen responded.
The comments were made as Iran mocked the US with ominous signs that have sparked conspiracy theories regarding the SenatorLindsey Grahamhis death and suggested a potential conspiracy to assassinate the PresidentTrump.
A a large red sign appeared in Valiasr Squarein Tehran this week, with a strange message stating: ‘Who is the next one? #lindseygraham.’
It seemed to suggest that Trump, 80, could be Tehran’s next focus, as the English slogan featured the letters ‘D’ and ‘T’ capitalized in an unusual way, seemingly alluding to the 47th US President.
In Enghelab Square, located in central Tehran, a large corner billboard showed a picture of the US President, his body wearing a suit visible from an open black coffin. Below it, written in graffiti style in both Persian and English, were the words: ‘We will kill Trump.’
These political billboards are the most recent in a sequence aimed at the US President. Earlier this week, a mural featuring individual, framed pictures of Trump, his children, and Melania was displayed above coffins covered with the US flag and against a background of theWhite House, was unveiled in Palestine Square in Iran.
The latest billboards have also sparked conspiracy theories suggesting that the Middle Eastern nation might have been involved.The enigmatic passing of Graham at the age of 71last weekend, when the politician wasUkraineonly days prior, prompting speculation that Tehran may have been behind it.
No confirmation or proof has been provided indicating Iran was involved in the senator’s death.
