Rep. Zach Nunn(R-IA) was captured on video physically approaching a political operator who attempted to challenge him regarding his previous statements.
“Congressman Nunn, do you still believe that the closure of rural hospitals is a myth?” the operator inquired, as he passed by with another individual.

“I’m with a client,” Nunn said impatiently, attempting to wave the agent off.
“Nothing to say, sir?” questioned the agent, beginning to pursue him.

“No, I mentioned I’m representing a constituent,” Nunn said, turning towards the operative’s phone camera. “You need to safeguard their privacy.” He then attempted to strike the phone from the operative’s hand, resulting in the scene becoming blurred.
AccordingAccording to Iowa reporter Laura R. Belin, the man Nunn was with was actually a journalist, not a citizen as he had informed the operative.
Nunn, a key focus for Democrats in the November midterm elections, had previously stated in alocal news interviewIn March, they stated, “I believe the myth is that rural hospitals will shut down” due to President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” Medicaid reductions, and “That is not true.”
In reality, certain rural hospitals,including in Iowa, have already closed down or been compelled to reduce their workforce,citing federal cuts as the reason.
