A murder inquiry has been initiated by authorities after a 17-year-old male succumbed to injuries from a stabbing incident in a park located in Luton.

The Bedfordshire Police stated that officers responded to Kingsway Recreation Ground just after 6:30 PM on Friday.

They reached the location after receiving information about disturbances, where “a group of young people” were observed “holding big knives.”

A young male was rushed to the hospital with several stab injuries but passed away shortly after, according to the authorities.

The individual who was harmed has not yet been officially recognized. Nevertheless, relatives are receiving assistance from officers who have received specific training.

Law enforcement stated that a young male has been taken into custody on charges of violent disorder related to the event and is currently being interrogated while in police detention.

A second teenager, who was taken into custody on charges of violent disorder, is still in the hospital due to severe injuries. A murder inquiry has now begun.

Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit are urging anyone with knowledge or who saw anything to get in touch.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardener stated, “The shocking violence in Luton has unfortunately resulted in the death of a young boy today.”
