Members of the House Oversight Committee were angry on Friday following the receipt of just one non-disclosure agreement related to Leon Black, a former associate ofJeffrey Epstein, according to reports.

The committee had issued a subpoena to Black, the founder of Apollo Global Management, requiring all non-disclosure agreements that Black is alleged to have concerning the late convicted sex offender and his accomplice.Ghislaine Maxwell, Politico reported.

A spokesperson for Chair James Comer(R-KY) spoke plainly — and indicated what was to follow.

Ambassador Black is not acting in good faith,” the representative stated. “The Committee decided to add two weeks for the complete release of all NDAs, yet his legal counsel has intentionally provided only one. This is not acceptable, and the Committee will continue to contact his attorney.

Susan Estrich, the legal representative for Black, verified that she provided one non-disclosure agreement, specifically one that was signed between Black and Guzel Ganieva, a woman with whom he had a past romantic connection. This relationship concluded with Black providing Ganieva approximately $9.5 million. Estrich claims that Epstein, who passed away by suicide in 2019, was aware of this arrangement. Ganieva subsequently filed a lawsuit against Black, citing accusations of sexual misconduct and defamation, but the case was dismissed by a judge in 2023.

The responsive information contains the sole confidentiality agreement that existed before Epstein’s death and the only one that Epstein was aware of. Epstein did not participate in creating this agreement,” Estrich stated in a declaration. “This confidentiality agreement with Guzel Ganieva put an end to her efforts to blackmail Mr. Black.

The New York State Supreme Court rejected Ms. Ganieva’s unfounded lawsuit against Mr. Black with prejudice, and this ruling was upheld by an appellate court,” Estrich stated. “Ms. Ganieva explicitly confirmed that she had never met Epstein.

However, Congress was not solely focused on the paper trail of a single relationship.

Comer has described the material related to Epstein and Maxwell as “essential” for advancing the investigation, and issued the subpoena initially only after Black declined to respond directly to questions about the agreements.

“We require the NDAs in order to proceed with the inquiry,” Comer stated.
