A beach visitor has sparked widespread online debate after sharing a social media video expressing frustration over a young child splashing in the water near her cabana, asserting that the boy was ‘invading her space.’

Sarah, using the handle @sarahsstillhere, posted to her 18 million followers onTikTokearlier this week, an elementary-aged child was seen sitting in the water near her lounge chair.

“Whose child is this? Why is he in front of our private cabana? Retrieve your child,” Sarah wrote along with the video.

She added in the caption: “Parents really just don’t care at all anymore.”

The post received thousands of comments as social media users expressed their opinions on whether her complaint was valid.

“Purchased ‘cabana.’ The ocean is available for purchase separately,” one comment stated.

“Dislike people recording children and sharing them online. Cease,” another person commented.

However, some people stated they wouldn’t want children around them at the beach, with one person writing, ‘So you all can excuse leaving your child unsupervised near strangers in the ocean, but you refuse to allow people some personal space?’

Even with the unfavorable feedback, Sarah intensified her efforts through a sequence of response videos, asserting that the child was in her area.

“Everyone is upset with me for seeking privacy and freedom from children being in my personal space; almost no one gets angry about an unattended child near the ocean,” she said in another video.

Sarah claimed she couldn’t comprehend how parents permitted their children to be left alone near the ocean without a floating aid.

In a different video, she referred to the ocean as the ‘Child Drowning Machine,’ while justifying her decision not to watch the child near her lounge chair.

“If that child rose from the tide pool and walked straight into the ocean and drowned, I wouldn’t intervene, for many reasons,” she continued.

Sarah claimed that she wouldn’t prioritize a child over her own, stating that it wasn’t her responsibility to look after them.

Defending her assertion that she did not ‘pay for the ocean,’ Sarah explained that she was staying at a private beach and rented the area in front of the lounge chair along with the ‘cabana.’

“I paid for the specific seat where the child was sitting. I paid for no one to be there,” she stated.

This is the way it functions on private beaches. Perhaps it varies on public ones. I’m not sure. I’ve never taken a vacation at one of those.
