Nine people, including five children, were detained in relation to the riots in Fnideq after the large-scale entry into Ceuta, which resulted in tens of thousands entering the city.
During the large-scale crossing, Fnideq saw confrontations between law enforcement and individuals attempting to migrate, characterized by aggression and the throwing of stones. Officials used water jets and tear gas to break up the gatherings. Multiple vehicles were set on fire, and both municipal and private assets suffered damage, including a vehicle belonging to the National Security services.
The Tetouan office of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights disclosed that the arrested individuals are being accused of destruction, attacking security personnel with rocks, and causing damage to property.
As per the same source, the detainees appeared before the public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Tetouan. The court decided that the four adults should be kept in pretrial custody at the local prison in Tetouan.
The five minors, however, were moved to the Child Protection Center in Temara, under a guardianship arrangement.
The branch of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in Tetouan expressed its dedication to overseeing the circumstances of detainees and following up on the development of their cases, guaranteeing compliance with principles of fair trials and legal rights.
