Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles has urged the Moroccan government to thoroughly examine the conditions that led to the large-scale migration into Ceuta, emphasizing the importance of identifying and taking responsibility against those who facilitated or ignored these movements.
Robles, in press remarksAfter her visit to the air base in Zaragoza, she stated that human-smuggling networks or any entity that “allowed or tolerated” the large-scale crossing must take responsibility for the crisis. “Neither Spain nor Morocco can ignore this humanitarian disaster,” she added.
The minister called on Rabat to disclose the facts regarding the events that took place along the borders with Ceuta and Melilla, emphasizing that «Spain’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are non-negotiable, and that Ceuta and Melilla are a red line».
