With the intense heatwave easing, rain is predicted to come next. Specifically, heavy rainfall during the National Liberation Day holiday is anticipated to provide significant relief to the drought-affected southern areas and Jeju Island.

As reported by the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 13th, rainfall is anticipated along the East Coast through the 14th because of the impact of eastern winds. Between the 13th and 14th, rainfall is expected to range from 10–50 mm on the East Coast of Gangwon Province, 5 mm in inland Gangwon, 5–40 mm on the East Coast of North Gyeongsang Province, and 5–30 mm in Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province. On the 15th, Jeju Island is predicted to experience 5–40 mm of rain.

Local thunderstorms are also expected across the country. These thunderstorms differ from rainfall brought by low-pressure areas or troughs, as they develop independently during warm afternoons. On the 13th, precipitation of 5–20 mm is predicted in the Chungcheong and Honam areas. On the 14th and 15th, thunderstorms with rainfall amounts of 5–40 mm and 5–50 mm, respectively, are expected nationwide, excluding Jeju.

Rain is also predicted to occur during the National Liberation Day holiday. Although exact rainfall amounts have not been disclosed, a significant low-pressure system is expected to form as moisture from the 15th Typhoon Chan-hom—which had faded over Japan—moves into the East Sea. Intense rainfall is forecasted on the 16th (Sunday) and may persist into the morning of the 17th, which is a make-up holiday.

Temperatures are predicted to stay close to typical levels for now. On the 14th, temperatures will vary between a minimum of 20–24°C and a maximum of 27–35°C.
