A Chinese student in her 20s who went missing in Daegu was discovered deceased six days after losing contact. Authorities have detained a man in his 30s believed to be responsible for her death and are currently looking into the incident.
The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Department reported on the 25th that they have detained a man, aged 31, in connection with a murder case.
Police arrested A at 7:29 p.m. on the same day in Gyeongsan City, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The body of B (25, female), a Chinese citizen who had gone missing, was found at A’s home in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan City.
B, a graduate student at Daegu Catholic University, arrived in the country on August 14 to collect her graduate school graduation certificate. Communication with her family was lost from the night of August 20. Her last confirmed location was close to Dongdaegu Station.
While investigating B’s location, authorities uncovered criminal suspicions and named A as the suspect. It was discovered that A and B knew each other.
The police intend to perform an autopsy to establish the precise cause of B’s death. They are also interrogating A regarding the motive, particular details of the crime, and the nature of his relationship with B.
Furthermore, the police plan to gather additional evidence connected to the crime by inspecting and taking items from A’s home. A law enforcement representative said, “Since this is an active investigation, we are unable to share specific details.”
