Nairobi – Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has publicly confirmed a meeting with Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, describing it as productive and centred on the future of the Linda Mwananchi political movement.

Osotsi disclosed the details in a Facebook post on Wednesday, September, amid swirling speculation that the Linda Mwananchi coalition was experiencing internal tensions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Osotsi backs Babu Owino as key ally
In his statement, Osotsi framed the meeting as a show of solidarity within the group, positioning Babu Owino as a vital component of Senator Edwin Sifuna’s anticipated 2027 presidential campaign.
“I had a fruitful meeting with my younger brother and incoming Nairobi Governor, Hon. Babu Owino, where we discussed matters concerning LINDA Mwananchi. Unity of purpose is important and Hon. Babu is an important factor in Senator Edwin W. Sifuna’s 2027 presidential journey,” Osotsi wrote.
The senator further urged members of the coalition to remain disciplined and focused on their shared political objectives, brushing aside suggestions of a rift within the group.
“Let us maintain our focus, determination and resilience in advancing the interests of our people. Our detractors will not succeed. We remain united and committed to the cause,” he added.
Linda Mwananchi Fallout Claims
The meeting drew attention largely because of the timing. Reports had been circulating suggesting that the Linda Mwananchi bloc, which draws together politicians aligned with a common agenda heading into the next election cycle, was under strain.
By going public with the details of the engagement, Osotsi appeared to be pushing back against that narrative, reinforcing the message that Babu Owino remains firmly within the fold and that the coalition’s structures are intact.
Osotsi also notably referred to Babu Owino as the “incoming Nairobi Governor,” a description that signals the Linda Mwananchi team’s ambitions beyond parliamentary seats in the 2027 elections.
