Javier Tebas, president of Spain’s LaLiga, said Morocco appears more likely than Spain to host the 2030 World Cup final, arguing that Spain’s chances of staging the showpiece would be «extremely slim» if Gianni Infantino remains FIFA president.

Tebas made the remarks at the World Football Summit, which brings together clubs, federations, leagues, investors and companies from more than 90 countries. Morocco and Spain are competing to host the final of the tournament they will jointly organize with Portugal.

Tebas called for Spain’s involvement in the 2030 World Cup project to be reconsidered if Morocco is awarded the final. He was responding to former Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales, who had urged Spain to withdraw as a co-host if it failed to secure the match.

«At the very least, the situation surrounding the World Cup should be reviewed», Tebas said. «I don’t know whether we should withdraw, but everything related to the tournament needs to be reconsidered.»
