President Lee Jae Myung, who is visiting the U.S., approved the appointment bills for Lee Hyoung-il, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy, Defense Minister Kang Shin-chul, and Hong Jee-sun, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, on September 22, Korean time.
Kang Yu-jung, Cheong Wa Dae’s senior spokesperson, stated on the same day, “President Lee Jae Myung approved the appointment bills for Lee Hyoung-il, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy, Defense Minister Kang Shin-chul, and Hong Jee-sun, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, on September 22, Korean time, after the adoption of their confirmation hearing reports.”
The National Assembly adopted the confirmation hearing reports for Lee and Kang on September 17. The report for Hong was adopted on September 21. The confirmation hearing report for Lee So-young, Minister of SMEs and Startups nominee, is delayed due to disagreements between the ruling and opposition parties.
