A senior deputy to FBI Director Kash Patel will depart the bureau after roughly one year on the job – news that comes as the preeminent law enforcement agency has struggled to respond to concerns of politicization.
Andrew Bailey, a co-deputy FBI director, announced his departure from the bureau on social media Monday. ‘With great pride in what we have accomplished, I am announcing that I am stepping down to return to my family in Missouri,’ Bailey said, saying his decision was driven by the desire to spend more time with family
‘I am confident Director Patel will continue to reform the FBI, combat violent crime, defend the homeland, ensure strong organizational accountability, and restore public trust in this institution of excellence,’ he added.
His last day at the bureau is Friday.
